(A pale ale)
This light, golden coloured ale has a gentle malt influence and is mildly fruity from the use of fantastic New Zealand grown hops and our special strain of yeast.

 

Pouring notes: Gently pour the contents into a 500 ml glass leaving the natural yeast sediment at the bottom of the bottle.

Food Matching


This mildly fruity pale ale goes well with all meats, meat pies, burgers, Chili, Thai food/Vietnamese/Indian, Bright flavours, Citrus, Mexican, Lime. Cuts through heavy cheese cream sauces . Sweet, sour and salty, Spicy burgers, Black pepper, Cajun. Spicy food – anything hoppy will lift the spiciness off the palate.

 

This medium to heavy bodied Pale Ale has maltiness with good bitterness to stand up to the strong flavours of a BBQ.

 

Strong Cheddar, Brie, Camembert : Pairing Cheese with Pale Ale - stronger cheeses are an effective foil to the hop and bitterness bite of the Pale Ale

Good as Gold Coromandel Brew

‘Good As Gold’


(A pilsner style)
Our kiwi version of a Bohemian style pilsner. Riwaka and Pacifica hops give a delicate flavour and aroma to this classic beer style that is light bodied and easy to drink.

5.0% ABV

Food Matching


Great with lighter food : chicken, salads, salmon, moderately spicy foods, pizza. Delicate fish need delicate beers. This Pilsner is excellent with fish.

 

Mild Cheddar, Goats cheese: When pairing cheese with Pilsner, look for a hint of fruit and sweetness to offset the dryness of the beer. Avoid cheese that is too potent, since it is likely to overpower the beer's more delicate scents.

 

Dessert: Light desserts, shortbread, fresh berries with zabaglione

The Dark Side Coromandel Brew

‘The Dark Side’


This rich lager explodes with maltiness followed by a smooth finish. Our Kiwi version of Bavaria’s strong Bock lager. Five malts go into this wonderful dark brew to show that lager doesn’t have to be golden. Dare you come over to The Dark Side?

Food Matching


This is a good all-around food beer, and not as filling as ales. This lager will cut some of the heaviness in sauce-based meat dishes - chicken paprikash, goulash or pork rouladen, for example - and will stand up to their strong flavours. The perfect beers to serve with pretzels and mustard.

 

Chicken, Game, Creamy Desserts, Lamb, Sausage.

 

Sweeter bocks, such as doppelbocks, can complement heartier, spicier desserts, such as pumpkin pie or spice cake as well as fruit cakes and puddings, chocolate and anything creamy.

Cloud 9 Coromandel Brew

‘Cloud 9’


(A Belgian influenced wheat beer)
Our version of a classic Belgian wheat beer spiced with coriander and mandarin peel picked from a local orchard here in the Coromandel. This beer is naturally cloudy and refreshingly fruity.

 

Pouring Notes:  For the full flavour gently roll or shake the bottle to loosen the natural yeast sediment and pour all the contents.  Ideally served with a big head so don’t be gentle when you pour this one!

Food Matching


Wheat beers have a unique tartness to them which are appropriate at the start of a meal and so a safe bet for a starter such as Smoked Salmon or Goats Cheese in a citrus dressing.

 

Great with lighter seafood dishes – classic with steamed mussels. Will compliment unadorned salmon and white fish without overwhelming it. An excellent choice for Oriental foods.

 

Wheat beers are full of high notes and to that end match with more lactic cheeses, goat's milk or young, soft-ripened cheeses, mascapone and herb cheeses. Earthier cheeses also marry well with this beer.

 

Dessert: Wheat beers have just the right blend of tartness and sweetness to accompany pies and other fruit dishes

 

Banana orange crepes, blood orange sorbet, panna cotta with lemon.


Bottle Conditioning

After conditioning in our coolroom for a number of weeks the beer is filtered (note: not sterile filtered!) before the addition of fresh yeast and priming sugars. A secondary fermentation then takes place in the bottle just like champagne. This means that your bottled beer is not artificially carbonated; the pleasant effervescence is generated wholly by the yeast in the bottle. It’s a living product which means lots of stimulating, fresh flavours.
