WE BREW CRAFT BEER
Below is a list of some of some of our locally brewed talent.
(A pale ale)
This light, golden coloured ale has a gentle malt influence and is mildly fruity from the use of fantastic New Zealand grown hops and our special strain of yeast.
(A Belgian influenced wheat beer)
Our version of a classic Belgian wheat beer spiced with coriander and mandarin peel picked from a local orchard here in the Coromandel. This beer is naturally cloudy and refreshingly fruity.
THE DARK SIDE
(A Dark Ale)
This rich lager explodes with maltiness followed by a smooth finish. Our Kiwi version of Bavaria’s strong Bock lager. Five malts go into this wonderful dark brew to show that lager doesn’t have to be golden. Dare you come over to The Dark Side?
GOOD AS GOLD
(A Belgian Beer)
Based on the Belgian Blonde style this beer offers subtle spiciness and delicate fruit esters that are typical of Belgian ale yeast while appealing to our more typical Pilsner lovers.
(A Honey Rye Beer)
The generous addition of manuka honey from local Coromandel hives gives an unmistakeable aroma to this Honey and Rye beer. A gentle 'hopping' also allows the blend of these wonderful flavours to shine through.

“Nice beer and food!”
The beer was very good and we enjoyed the food! Unfortunately it was closed the next two days so we were not able to come back a second time!

“Great food, beer, service & setting”
We came with a group of friends and family and were extremely well looked after by The Pour House's expert crew. Selection of boutique beers brewed onsite are fantastic to try (great sampling selection) and food (pizzas, seafood platter) are delicious. Lovely outdoor area and central location. Highly recommended xx

“A gem ”
If you're in Hahei and like your beer, this is the place you should visit. Tasting paddles are cheap and a good selection of food to choose from. They also brew some of their own beer. We tasted all the beer, ate a bit too much and then walked home (up the steep hill). I want to go back there.

Brewer / Owner
An electrical engineer by trade Neil came to NZ to live in 2008 with wife Karen and their two kids. They first came on holiday in 2004 and fell in love with the Coromandel so much that they bought a house! They found that they just loved the place but hated the beer! At this time craft breweries were few and far between and beer was dominated by the big two. An idea was planted and years later a beer business was born. Perfect timing in a perfect part of the world……
Manager / Owner
Karens background was fashion management but she turned her back on it when she came here. Desperate for a change she encouraged Neil to make beer like he used to as she was used to drinking craft beer. My dad was a real beer buff and we always drank the good stuff. MY earliest recollection was drinking Old Tom and Theakstons Old Peculiar which are still around today and a lot bigger!
The fashion Industry overseas is very fast and very aggressive and this has stood me in good stead at The Pour House. I just love my job, love the bar and of course Hahei is the most magical place to live.

Becks & Andy
Trained in fine dining in the Uk since the age of 16. Both are 5 star trained chefs having worked for Terry Laybourne MBE in the North east of England for many years as part of his hospitality and restaurant chain. Coming to NZ for a change of scenery they tried various roles including running motels. However discovering the Coromandel has changed their lives despite several hurdles they fell for the place. They have adapted their fine dining skills for a more casual environment and cemented the great relationship between good beer and good food.
